OFF TO CHURCH ON OUR LAST SUNDAY IN THE SOUTHWEST
A FAREWELL PARTY
It’s been almost 3 months since we made the big move. My hope of one day becoming a full time blogger is on the back burner as reality of the new season hits home and my new role as chief bread winner takes its place.
OUR NEW ABODE
IN THE EVENING LIGHT AS WE SET OUT FOR A STROLL
I HAVE A GRAPEVINE IN THE BACKYARD
I’ve traded the sound of cows, morning foxes and croaking frogs for the rolling rhythm of trains on tracks, banter of the resident Willie Wag Tails and the hum of busy lives to-ing and fro-ing between work, cafes and home. I’ve actually become quite fond of the sound of the train as is starts it’s early morning jaunt signalling the beginning of a new day telling me I can sleep for a little longer…..but only a little longer because I’ve also traded ‘homemaker’ for ‘bread’ winner.
YESTERDAY COWS IN MY BACKYARD – TODAY A GRAPEVINE
We use to go out for an early morning or late arvo meander in the Wetland but we’ve traded that for a regular stroll to the local Cafe.
YESTERDAY’S WETLANDS
One night we happened upon a rather large street festival so immersed ourselves in the event enjoying the balmy evening, a concert and a coffee.
TODAY’S CITY STREETS
So it’s the cows for the grapevine and wetlands for the Jacaranda. God knew I loved Jacaranda trees so kindly gave me a street lined with them. The purple flowers are still in bloom and lay their carpet for me each day. Even the grapevine reminds me of my love for Italy and sends its message to not forget her and to practise my Italian. I sigh sweetly to myself and thank God for the little things that bring me joy along this journey because the journey hasn’t actually been that easy and although it hasn’t been all I imagined I remind myself the of lesson I learnt long ago that “Life is nothing like the brochure”. So I just smile to myself and look for the good along the way.
WHO KNOWS – ONE DAY I MIGHT GET TO SPEND SUMMERS IN ITALY
It’s great to dream and to breathe in life to it’s fullest and even when things are quite what you hoped for one should never give up. You can often hear us say to each other as we reflect on this new season….. “Drink the Cup…Just Drink the Cup” and so that is what we will do while we breathe in every moment and wait for this season to pass.
